Thoughts on "Stardoll Royalty"

A Stardoll friend of mine told be about this new club, Stardoll Royalty. At first, I was completely puzzled; what was it? After searching, I discovered that it is an "exclusive, invite-only" club that "hand-picks" the "best of the best" Stardoll members, giving them "previews of their most exclusive collections" and access to "trying out new Stardoll features before they are released to everyone!"

First of all, on what basis they decide to give you an invite? Stardoll has more than 45 million members. It is completely impossible that Stardoll hand-picked some members who "have been Superstar for more than a year and have contributed to the site with fantastic suites and outfits". Some people who are superstar for more than a year, or even, were Superstar members since Stardoll started, didn't get an invite. And obviously, some amazing people with extremely creative suites and outfits haven't been invited, too. The club isn't only unfair to non-superstars, it is unfair to all the superstars who pay but apparently don't pay "enough". So how do they choose their members? Well, knowing Stardoll, choosing members that spend hundreds and hundreds of money in the site.

Yes, Stardoll needs to make money, and these members give them money, but the members from the Stardoll Royalty club are less than 1% of the Stardoll "population". The people who made and make Stardoll popular are the non-superstars, which are more than a half of the members, and the most active of them. So, technically, non-superstars and really active members are giving Stardoll money, but they don't seem to care. Shouldn't this members get a reward, too? Sure, there is free stuff, but that's nothing compared to being part of an "exclusive" club.

What is Stardoll teaching to young girls who play in their site? To become clique-y, to become materialistic, and to believe that people who pay are better than people who don't?! It seems like Stardoll doesn't care about their members anymore, and just wants more money. First, LE, then, Antidote, Dot, higher prices, more and more stuff becoming Superstar-only, etc...

I mean, look at the club's description: "Elite Squad". It seems like Stardoll is trying to make the gap between Superstars and Non-superstars even bigger. They want to make non-superstars jealous and to earn more money... really, just a stupid money tactic which seems to have caused the opposite effect instead of the desired one.

What has Stardoll become? Two months ago, they were promoting a no-bullying campaign, and now they come up with this exclusive club which doesn't admit cool and creative non-superstars, making them look and feel inferior to the members of this club? Stardoll is way more commercial than before.

If you noticed, this club was released just in time for Thanksgiving, Black Friday, "Cyber Monday", and the Holiday Season? And that the club received such a fierce backlash, that now we have been loaded with Free Stuff everyday?

Sincerely, I think it's a lame and pathetic attempt from Stardoll to make more money. Some people really deserve to be in the club, but really, it's nothing special - it's just a club that gives you free, Stardoll-logoed stuff every now and then.

  1. The club is really just to get the more experience and non-opinionated members of stardoll to do some surveys to improve the site. They gave a survey to us experienced members with three new layout ideas. If they would have surveyed everyone, they would have ended up with that ugly 10 year old doodle layout they suggested in the survey. It was really gay lol. but, most of the stardoll population is 10 year olds, and I'm pretty sure they'd prefer a more experienced opinion.

And you're probably jus' jealous. Why did you waste your time writing this? We all know the stardoll staff are a bunch of conceited money moochers.

    Deal with it.

  4. I am a member of the club, and what I can figure out, they invite the people who have either/or:
    - spent A LOT of real money on stardoll
-been on stardoll for more than 2 years
    -are of a certain age

the last 2 are my last thoughts, b/c it doesn't seem fair to other members. You can't help it when you joined, and you can't help ur age. I personally have spent a lot of real money on stardoll, and it seems only fair to reward those who do. That's all I could think of when I was invited to join. I never got asked to do that survey of the new layouts, so I dunno. Who knows. There are many mysteries to stardoll that we'll never fully understand.

  5. this club sounds totally gay, stardoll has already gone way done this year, what with stealing other sites ideas or letting others steal there ideas.taking away the one star dollar a day thing and to letting someone have a fashion line who didnt even draw the designs but stole them claiming them as her own(even though they fixed that problem, its still fresh in my mind).this to my opinion is just a cry for help from star doll to get money and to just be plain dumb and ignorant in running a site.as if SS and non-SS needed something else to separate each other they brought this into the mix.

  6. I allready noticed that stardoll is trying to get as much superstars as they wish. with all that advertisement to become superstar. And presents if you become superstar. And all that free stuff only for superstar and only cool clothing for superstars and all the ugly clothes for non-superstars. I don't wanna be superstar if it has to go this way :(
